I've always found survival-horror stories more interesting when the main character starts out as an ordinary person rather than someone who already knows how to handle every threat.
That is what makes the setup of Resident Evil 2026 interesting. Bryan is a medical courier who begins with a normal delivery assignment, only to discover that an outbreak has turned his surroundings into a dangerous place filled with infected people and strange creatures.
Instead of simply running from one monster to another, the story puts Bryan in unfamiliar situations where he has to figure things out as he goes. The outbreak, abandoned locations, limited options, and mutated creatures all contribute to the survival atmosphere.
Austin Abrams plays Bryan, while Zach Cherry, Kali Reis, Paul Walter Hauser, and Johnno Wilson are also part of the cast. Zach Cregger directs the movie and co-writes it with Shay Hatten.
The movie also looks toward the survival-horror style associated with the original games, particularly the combination of exploration, mystery, dangerous creatures, and trying to escape an environment that keeps becoming more threatening.
I found a longer article with more information about the movie here:
https://writeupcafe.com/watch-resident-evil-2026-a-terrifying-zombie-survival-thriller
It goes into the storyline, cast, characters, director, and the survival-horror elements in more detail.
For anyone who enjoys zombie stories, creature horror, or action-heavy survival movies, Resident Evil 2026 has a setup that's worth exploring.
